Post and Unit171 Scholarship Program for 2026

The Damascus American Legion Post 171, and Unit 171, announces their annual scholarship programs. Four Post scholarship grants in the amount of $2,000 and two in the amount of $1,500 will be awarded in the spring of 2026. In addition, three Unit scholarship grants in the amount of $1,500 will be awarded.

Bingo

Bingo is every Thursday night, except Holidays. Doors open at 5:00 PM and games start at 7:00 PM. A snack bar is available! WEATHER POLICY – We will make a decision based on the conditions by Noon on Thursdays whether or not to cancel on Facebook and via the Post phone.

Rentals

Rental requests for event dates are being accepted. If you have a question regarding rentals, contact the Rental Agent at Rentals or 301-518-8499. Check out the rates and contract information here.

We are veterans, men and women who have served honorably in the armed forces as prescribed by law. The Post was founded in the fall of 1945. Our Post includes more than 300 Legionnaires, who, like all American Legion (www.legion.org) members, are volunteers who serve with a commitment to support our fellow service members and veterans, mentor our young Americans, sponsor community service programs, and advocate for strengthening our nation’s defense and security, patriotism and honor.

Together we raise money for our veterans and youth support, activities, and charitable community donations with weekly cash bingo, rentals, and public events like dinners and dances at various times each year. We invite you to join us for these events.

Damascus Post 171’s Legion Family includes our Auxiliary Unit 171 (Eligibility Requirements) (Joining).

Post Members meet monthly on the second Monday starting at 7:30. Come early at 6:45 for social food and beverages.

Unit Members meet monthly on the second Monday starting at 7:00 pm.

All meetings are at the Post.
