Welcome to our Post 171!
We are American Legion Post 171 in Damascus, Maryland. We are veterans, men and women who have served honorably in the armed forces as prescribed by law. The Post was founded in the fall of 1945. Our Post includes more than 300 Legionnaires, who, like all American Legion (www.legion.org) members, are volunteers who serve with a commitment to support our fellow service members and veterans, mentor our young Americans, sponsor community service programs, and advocate for strengthening our nation’s defense and security, patriotism and honor.
Damascus Post 171’s Legion Family includes our Auxiliary Unit 171 (Eligibility Requirements) (Joining).
We raise money for our veterans and youth support, activities, and charitable community donations with weekly cash bingo, rentals, and public events like dinners and dances at various times each year. We invite you to join us for these events.
Our Legion Family meets monthly on the second Monday with the Unit meeting at 7 PM and the Post meeting at 7:30. All meetings are at the Post Home located at 10201 Lewis Drive, Damascus, Maryland 20872. We are continuously seeking and welcoming new members. Damascus American Legion Post 171 Baseball is hosting a Fall 2024 (MCBA AAA) and Summer 2025 19U and 17U baseball tryout at Damascus High School's baseball field on Sunday, August 11, 2024, from 12 PM - 2 PM. Players interested in playing on one or both teams should make every effort to attend. In the event that there is inclement weather on Sunday, please check the Post's Facebook for status updates. Otherwise, the try-out is a go.

| Following long tradition, Post 171 has resumed our monthly pancake breakfast for members and guests. Join us on the second Saturday of every month, from 7:30 - 9:30 am. For a donation, get your fill of pancakes, french toast, sausage, eggs, bisquits, and more! |
