Rental of Facilities Information

Damascus Post 171 has two halls available for rent.  The Main Hall upstairs (see photos) has a seating capacity of 299 while the Party room downstairs (see photos) seats 80. We rent our facility for family gatherings, weddings, retirements, birthday parties, reunions, a celebration of life, fundraisers and in the main hall we can even host bingo.  We DO NOT rent for private parties where tickets are sold at the door or for any RAVES. 

Event liability Insurance: Post 171 now requires renters to provide proof of liability insurance. Homeowners and renters may already have this covered via their own personal insurance -- call your agent to find out. If not, search the internet for "event liability insurance" to get quotes for this need. As of early 2024, the approximate cost is $75-$125. 

Rental rates include: 

a). A minimum of five (5) hour block of time. This time includes your clean-up time.

b). Full use of kitchen and ice machine.

c). Tables and chairs up to the room occupancy. Renters may move the tables and chairs where needed, but we requireyou to return tables and chairs to their original location before departure. 

d.) On-site host during party hours, in case you need assistance. 

e.) Early and no-cost entrance for decorations and preparations.

Reservations:  Date(s) will be reserved only when a contract is signed and a deposit has been received. To make reservations, please contact John Palomino, the Rental Agent, at rentals@legionpost171.org. Or call/text at (240) 919-6566. The rental agent is Bilingual in english and spanish (el agente habla ingles y espanol).

The balance of the rental payment, and proof of event liability insurance, are due 30 days before the event.

Cancelled events: The deposit of one hour charge is non-refundable, but will include a refundable $200 security deposit. 

Members of Post 171 and Unit 171 may have a reduced rental rate. Requirements are being a member for at least one (1) year and current paid dues, as well as subject to approval by the Post Executive Committee.
